In May 1995, a small group of table tennis players set up a club based at the Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project (CVYP) building in Cramlington Village centre.
The official inaugural meeting was held on 23 August 1995 when officials were appointed and a Constitution adopted. The club moved to larger premises at Cramlington Community High School in June 1998.
In September 2002 a new Sports Centre was opened at the High School. Branded as the Sporting Club of Cramlington, the centre is a dual facility as a resource for the school during term time and a resource for the community on weekday evenings during term time, weekends all the year round and all week during school holidays.
The club aims to promote and encourage the playing of table tennis within Cramlington and the surrounding areas. Membership is open to all classes of player from beginner to the more experienced, male and female, adults and children (currently our youngest member is eight years old; our oldest 75), able bodied and disabled. Efforts are concentrated upon the young people in the local community with coaching sessions on Friday evenings.
As well as welcoming beginners the club is keen to recruit experienced players who are prepared to assist in the coaching and training of new and less experienced players.
Perhaps you are new to the area and looking for a friendly club. Perhaps you stopped paying table tennis a few years ago because of family or work commitments but now have some free time to play again. Perhaps you already play for a club in the area but they can't offer you a regular place in a higher division. Perhaps Cramlington is within easy travelling distance from where you live.
Whatever your personal situation, if you are looking for somewhere to play
league table tennis in the 2005/2006 season contact Alan
Hedley, Chairman Cramlington Table Tennis Club. He will be pleased to
give you more information on CTTC or assist you in locating another club
that may be more convenient for you.
