Northumberland Schools Competition 22 February 2009

Cramlington Table Tennis Club hosted the Northumberland Schools Individual County Table Tennis Competition at the Sporting Club Cramlington on the 22nd February.

Brian Philip , Northumberland representative for the English Schools Table Tennis Association ( ESTTA), in association with the Northumberland Competition Manager Team, organised the event, the first to be held in the county for over 20 years.

A total of 29 entrants came from Bothal, Seaton Sluice, Newminster, Whytrig, Dr Thomlinson, Duchess, Blyth Community College , Coquet and Cramlington Learning Village .

The event provided a highly engaging day where players competed and umpired in round robin leagues filtering into semi-final knockout matches. Members of Cramlington Table Tennis Club offered short individual coaching opportunities between matches and the competition was strong in most sections.

Winning finalists were as follows:

 

 U11 Girls – Rachael Hay (Bothal)

U11 Boys - Jack Quinn (Seaton Sluice)

U13 Girls - Erin Middleton (Bothal)

U13 Boys – Ryan Guttridge ( Cramlington Learning Village )

U16 Boys – Jake Preece ( Blyth Community College )

U19 Boys – Alex Guttridge ( Cramlington Learning Village )

 

Winners now qualify for the National Finals at The Dome, Doncaster on the 25 th April 2009 .

 

This England Schools Table Tennis Association Individual and Team School - County - National pathway will now run on an annual basis.
