Cramlington TTC receives the Award of ETTA Participation Level PremierClub of the Year 2009-2010

Each year the ETTA (English Table Tennis Association), through their Coaching, Volunteer and Club Awards ceremony, recognise the work done by thousands of volunteers at table tennis clubs throughout the country.

For the year 2009-2010 (November 2009 to October 2010) Cramlington Table Tennis Club were recognised as the ETTA Participation PremierClub of the year.

Alan Hedley (Chairman) and Aubrey Drapkin (Treasurer) were proud to represent the Club in the Awards Ceremony held at Sheffield during the English Open at the end of January 2011.

The Club were shortlisted using a number of criteria including membership growth and recommendation from the ETTA North East Regional Development Manager. It was then invited to write to ETTA to tell them what achievements it was most proud of during the year.

Its response listed 10 major reasons why they should be a front runner for this award. High in the list was the achievements of their younger members through the opportunities provided by the Club. Volunteers, good management, communication and accessibility were all major factors. Above all it was the support of the general membership and guest visitors that enabled the Club to continue to thrive.

ANNUAL FUND RAISING AND PRESENTATION NIGHT

THe following message fron the Club's treasurer has been copied to all Club members.

'Our anniual fund raising and presentation night will be held at the Hind public house on Saturday evening, 17 th April, 2010 when we will have entertainment by The Merx. A raffle will be held and there will also be a short quiz. The Club needs your support and I hope that we can have a good attendance.

Last year we raised £604 to help reduce our annual deficit. As things stand we need to raise at least the same amount again this year.

Apart from the trustees and those who attend the Annual Meeting I feel sure that most members do not realise how much it costs to run the club. This year's total expenditure looks likely to be just over £12,000 of which approximately £10,500 is spent on the hire of the premises for the three nights. Subscription income is in the region of £9,600 which means we have to raise the difference by means of sponsorship, donations and fund raising efforts.

Tickets cost £4 and should be ordered from me. I will also be pleased to receive prizes for the raffle. Youngsters are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Presentations will be made to the Cramlington player of the year in each of the divisions of the Northumbria League and also to our junior and cadet players of the year'.

Aubrey Drapkin, Treasurer

(Two club members (Barry Hill and Paul Brown) are members of the the Merx - Barry on keyboards and Paul playing lead guitar). Although the evening will be mainly for the benefit of members there will some tickets available for those who wish to support Barry. )
