CTTC offers an opportunity to attain an ETTA level 2 coaching award

CTTC are arranging a training course for players who would like to attain accriditation as an ETTA Level 2 coach. Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery funded Awards for All scheme and some assistance from Blyth Valley District Council the Club is able to hold a heavily subsidised course for up to 12 members. In addition a guarantee from Northumberland Table Tennis means that up to a further 8 places will be available at a subsidised level for players from clubs affiliated to the Northumbria League.l

The course consists of a twelve-hour part theory, part practical session plus twelve hours of practical coaching under the guidance of a qualified Table Tennis coach. A separate assessment session takes place approximately one month after the course. The course is for anyone wishing to learn the fundamentals of coaching Table Tennis and a satisfactory playing standard is necessary (i.e. the ability to demonstrate the four basic strokes competently). This course is very relevant to any club interested in working towards Premier Club Participation Level.

The course will be held over 2 consecutive Sunday afternoons (15 and 22 January 2006) from noon until 6.00pm, at the Sporting Club Cramlington, Cramlington Community High School. Assessment sessions will be arranged on Friday evenings between 6 to 8 weeks after the the course.

The cost of the course covers hire of the premises for the training and assessment sessions, hire of the tutor coach and hire of another coach for the assessment, ETTA registration and administration fees plus the following ETTE resources: ETTA Basic Coaching Manual, ETTA Disability Awareness Manual four Sportscoach UK booklets – ‘What is Sports Coaching?', ‘How to Coach Sports Safely', ‘How to Coach Sports Effectively' and ‘How to Coach Children in Sport'; ITTF 'Rules' booklet, Table Tennis News, ETTA Child Protection Document and the Skills Award Pack. Certificate and badge awarded on completion and passing of assessment. Participants must be experienced players and will be required to register with the National Coaching Scheme.

The normal cost of the course would be £105.00. Thanks to the Awards for All funding, the Blyth Valley contribution and the guarantee from Northumberland Table Tennis, CTTC can offer it to their members for £20.00 and for £35.00 to players affiliated to Northumberland Table Tennis.

Interested participants should email Alan Hedley, Club Chairman, with their expression of interest as soon as possible and complete and return the application form.
