New Shirts on the Table

Thanks to a grant of £2,730 from the Community Foundation’s Northumberland Grassroots Grants programme members of Cramlington Table Tennis Club will be wearing new shirts from the beginning of September.

The Club is a registered charity with the object of promoting community participation in healthy recreation by the provision of facilities for playing table tennis. It is open to all interested in participating in the sport on a social or competitive level and currently has just over 100 members covering a wide range of abilities and ages.

Members had been wearing a variety of different shirts. The Club Trustees felt that this did not help to build up a team and club identity. They believed that the provision of a Club shirt would bring about that identity, enhance team spirit, club loyalty and pride and promote the marketing of the Club and applied to the Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland for funding to purchase shirts.

Happily the Community Foundation was able to provide assistance through the Grassroots Grants programme and members will now be sporting a “uniform” table tennis shirt enhancing a sense of belonging, particularly among the younger players.
