SITA Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. Funding is available for community and environmental groups to carry out a range of improvement projects.
Cramlington Table Tennis Club has received a £9,984.60 funding boost from SITA Trust to help them renew their table tennis equipment.
Members, guests and visitors to the Club will, from the begining of September 2007, notice 16 brand new Donic Persson 25mm tables complete with Donic Stress nets. As well as funding these tables the SITA grant has provided the Club with 8 new umpire tables, 10 new scoring machines, 40 new vinyls, specially printed with our name, for our table surrounds, a Robot upgrade, a transporter to hold our surrounds, a Robot upgrade and 60 new Yasaka World Cup hobby bats for use on Club nights.
Running a club the size of CTTC incurs considerable expenses on items such as hall hire, league entry and affiliation fees and insurance. These are covered by our subscription fees, fund raising efforts, donations and sponsorship. Without the assistance of funders like SITA we would be unable to maintain our equipment to the high standard it is. This current boost from the SITA Trust will not only ensure we have equipment that meets the high standard of playing conditions and safety levels we aim forbut also helps to secure the financial security of the Club.
The trustees and members of Cram ling ton Table Tennis Club are delighted to acknowledge the support given by SITA Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Jarvis Sports, the suppliers of our equipment, are based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Alison Brown was our contact at Jarvis. At all times in our negotiations with Alison we were met with courtesy, honesty and friendliness. It was agreed that delivery to our premises would be made on Tuesday 14 August. "We'll be there at 8.30am" said Alison! We're not sure what time she left but the van arrived spot on 8.30am, despite damp and dismal weather.

The tables came in flat packs and were very heavy. We started off using a sack barrow to transport the tables through the 4 doorways on the route to the storage area where we keep our equipment. The problem arose that the table on the sack barrow was too wide to go through the doors.

So we had to lift it off the sack barrow and take it through sideways then put it back on to the barrow to move it to the next door.

By the time we got the first one in we were pretty tired. Only another 15 to go ....

After the fourth table we hit on an easier method of moving the tables. We used one half off our old tables, which are on wheels. Keeping the half upright we loaded the flat bpack onto it and could transport the remaining flat packs sideways through the doors.
And here's the last table coming off the van.

Everything delivered and its time to go back to Norfolk.

Each flat pack needed removing from the protective cardboard packaging and the under carriage assembling.

Some practice on the first tables assembled show the new Donic tables, nets, umpire tables and scoring machines

And more action

We got an upgrade for one of our Robots which means it can now be used with 40mm balls. Some forehand and backhand practice in progress.

And we have some new, high performance, bats for Club night.

And finally, to repeat our thanks ....
